So now, a few hours later, most polls and articles are saying that, hands down, Kerry won the debate over Bush. He was more articulate, relaxed, presidential. However, depending on the writer and paper/network, they highlight different issues and quotes (duh!). The scary thing is that despite the fact that Kerry has a substantial lead in those who believe he won the debate, and his status went up on most voters’ lists in all kinds of ways, Bush is still leading in the “who I will vote for” polls. Some say that this will take a few days to change – given the obscene budget Republicans have spent on smear campaigns – others say Kerry has to fair better than Bush in all the debates to get the votes he needs, and still others are saying that it’s too little, too late: Bush is gonna win.
I hope that both latter groups are wrong.
