Shimmering, AI-generated image, NFT edition of 10, 2021

Learning Prompts is an ongoing series that uses a combination of word- and image-based Artificial Intelligence code to produce NFTs based on poetic text prompts. In other words, I train a computer network to try and make an image of, for example, “Shimmering stargazer lilies in colorful shattered glass”.

“Artificial Intelligence” is a misnomer. When machines “learn” (and then produce), they are taking (and making from) an aggregate of human data, and how we classify it. My words ask the cloud to search and match up, migrate and mutate, let go and latch onto, remix and recompose, into new but familiar forms, which are born between human ideas and images, and computer-driven generative adversarial networks.
