Budapest

Man, I’m tired; mucho respect to Jonah for always blogging when on the move. I’m finding it tiresome to even do a little bit. Granted, he usually has cooler things than I to say, and is usually in places, or at conference/festivals, that have much easier net access than SA and Eastern Europe, but even when I am in places like that, I don’t keep on it.

Anyway, made it to the Budapest National Museum (or something like that) up by the castle today, and Nicks and I were really impressed by a lot of the contemporary Hungarian work.

Above, Imre Vargas’ “Forced March,” circa 1968: a beautiful sculpture by a Hungarian gem. Very moving. I liked that, given the size, age, and funding of the institution (which mostly houses and exhibits art pre-20th century), it had a fairly decent collection of work post-1945, and was exhibiting some pieces from as recent as 1999. Good stuff, too.

For my buddy Franci, an image of the Calvinist church of Budapest. Hee.
