\nLeading New Media artist nathaniel stern ( http:\/\/nathanielstern.com ) was a \u00ac\u00dd2004 Kebble award winner with his ground-breaking interactive art installation called \u2019\u00c4\u00faStep Inside\u2019\u00c4\u00f9.<\/p>\n
Nathaniel, who is a graduate of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University, and a lecturer on the Wits School of Arts\u2019\u00c4\u00f4 Digital Arts MA programme, will be leading \u00ac\u00dda \u00ac\u00ddtwo and a half day hands-on introductory workshop to Interactive Video.<\/p>\n
This discipline combines the use of video cameras and computers in \u00ac\u00ddorder to \u00ac\u00ddtrack bodies, motion, proximity, light and color for use in \u00ac\u00ddinteractive installation, multimedia performance, and VJing. The \u00ac\u00ddworkshop will cover a basic intro to all of the above, as well as real-time video mixing, scrubbing and effects, and the use of sound to generate and\/or interfere with video.

\nThe workshop will utilize Max\/MSP and Jitter as its development environment. \u00ac\u00ddThis application uses a simple, graphical interface (which looks very much like a flow chart) to accomplish the artist\u2019\u00c4\u00f4s goals. \u00ac\u00ddFor more information, \u00ac\u00ddsee http:\/\/cycling74.com

\nAmongst the various activities, the two and half day workshop will \u00ac\u00ddexplore examples of Interactive Video work by contemporary artists, suggest some of \u00ac\u00ddthe other possibilities for tracking information from the physical \u00ac\u00ddworld through cameras, and also look at other software and hardware available for tracking and manipulating audio and video.
