{"id":402,"date":"2004-08-15T15:58:13","date_gmt":"2004-08-15T13:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/blog\/?p=402"},"modified":"2005-02-04T08:57:32","modified_gmt":"2005-02-04T06:57:32","slug":"south-african-arts-hangout-johannesburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/blog\/2004\/08\/15\/south-african-arts-hangout-johannesburg\/","title":{"rendered":"south african arts hangout, johannesburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nathanielstern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/monna_mokoena.jpg?resize=400%2C267\" alt=\"monna_mokoena.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Going in reverse order from right to left, we&#8217;ve got Franci Cronje (media artist), Zingi Mkefa (choreographer, and  journalist for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisdaysa.co.za\/\">THISDAY<\/a>), Kathryn Smith (Standard Bank young artist of the year, who has agreed to help me hang my upcoming solo show at the Johannesburg Art Gallery!),  Monna Mokoena (gallerist \/ owner of <a href=\"http:\/\/gallerymomo.com\">gallery momo<\/a>, who has agreed to handle the sales of that very same show) and Melissa Gober (of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodman-gallery.com\/\">Goodman Gallery<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>We were actually all at <a href=\"http:\/\/gallerymomo.com\">gallery momo<\/a> for what promised to be a very interesting talk on <i>The Importance of Writing &#038; Preserving Our Arts Heritage<\/i>, with panelists including the likes of Kathryn and Zingi (above), as well as Colin Richards and Sipho Mdanda. However, fate had other plans (many of the panelists didn&#8217;t show up). Anyhow, an interesting talk progressed on different matters.
