Working on many pieces that continue my still very very new <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/2009\/night-work\/\">Distill Life<\/a> series (using mostly <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Machinima\">machinima<\/a> video from <a href=\"http:\/\/secondlife.com\/\">Second Life<\/a> and combining that with prints and drawings), some <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/art\/compressionism\/\">Compressionist<\/a> prints, and a kind of mixed reality minimalist video installation called <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/giventime\/\">Given Time<\/a> that I am very excited about (doing avatar design with my assistant now). Have also been playing with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openframeworks.cc\/\">openFrameworks<\/a> a lot lately (updating my interactive pieces built in Director in the early 2000s &#8211; so they run on new machines &#8211; while learning its idiosyncrasies). Can I just say &#8220;awesome&#8221;? Am about done with <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/2003\/stuttering\/\">stuttering<\/a> &#8220;2.0,&#8221; which hasn&#8217;t worked on any machine I have owned since 2003; it feels so good to see the piece again! Coming up: <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/2001\/odys-elicit-entraced\/\">elicit<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/2000\/enter-hektor\/\">enter:hektor<\/a>, and then a new work; all four will be released as &#8220;Body Language,&#8221; a suite of interactive installations, some time in the next year. Much of the more object- and print-based stuff will feature in upcoming shows in South Africa and on the East Coast in early 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Hooray for stuff and things!
