But I also spend a LOT of time circumventing my inbox. You know what I mean. Here&#8217;s a great li&#8217;l quote from Merlin Mann, via Clay Shirky, which was printed on <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/the_daily_dish\/2009\/01\/why-we-dont-alw.html\">Andrew Sullivan&#8217;s blog<\/a> by Patrick Appel (my brain hurts just typing that interconnection):<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Email is such a funny thing. People hand you these single little messages that are no heavier than a river pebble. But it doesn&#8217;t take long until you have acquired a pile of pebbles that&#8217;s taller than you and heavier than you could ever hope to move, even if you wanted to do it over a few dozen trips. But for the person who took the time to hand you the pebble it seems outrageous that you can&#8217;t handle the one tiny thing. &#8220;What &#8216;pile&#8217;?
