\nGreene<\/a> about their situation, for those interested that don’t have membership
\nto their site. The email, which appeared on the rhizome raw list-serv last night
\n(NYC time) is entitled, "Rhizome
\nUpdate".<\/a><\/p>\n

Dear Rhizomers — There have been some comments about Rhizome.org’s<\/a>
\nstatus on Raw and Thingist<\/a>
\nso we wanted to respond and issue an update.
\nRachel Greene… is succeeding Mark Tribe as Executive Director… Mark has recently
\nstarted a new position as Director of Art & Technology at the Columbia University
\nSchool of the Arts. He will continue to be active and take a leadership role on
\nthe Rhizome Board of Directors.
\nOver the last few years, [ Rhizome<\/a>
\nhas ] worked with the New
\nMuseum of Contemporary Art…<\/a> and always found them to be a wonderful partner.
\nThe New Museum<\/a> is committed
\nto showing a culturally and geographically diverse range of artists….
\nThe New Museum<\/a> [ will
\nnow ] provide Rhizome<\/a> with office
\nspace and other forms of administrative support. Rhizome<\/a>
\n[ will ] continue to operate as an independent organizational entity, retain current
\nstaff and programs… web site [ will ] remain at http:\/\/rhizome.org.<\/a>
\n[ Their ] mission and core principles [ will ] not change, but [ they ] hope to
\ncollaborate with the New Museum<\/a>
\non a range of programs, including exhibitions, commissions and events.
\nThis possible partnership with the New
\nMuseum<\/a> represents an opportunity to create a stable environment for Rhizome<\/a>
\nto support the global new media art community while remaining true to its commitment
\nto inclusiveness and grassroots structures. Given how inhospitable the current
\neconomic climate is for small nonprofits, [ they ] feel this would be the best
\nway to ensure [ their ] ability to fulfill [ their ] mission….
