{"id":1594,"date":"2008-03-04T09:47:17","date_gmt":"2008-03-04T07:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/04\/openframeworks-i-am-adopted\/"},"modified":"2008-03-04T11:57:54","modified_gmt":"2008-03-04T09:57:54","slug":"openframeworks-i-am-adopted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nathanielstern.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/04\/openframeworks-i-am-adopted\/","title":{"rendered":"openframeworks: i am adopted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wiki.openframeworks.cc\/images\/6\/6c\/Facetracker.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" title=\"joel and dave playing with openframeworks and arduino\" alt=\"joel and dave playing with openframeworks and arduino\" height=\"240\" width=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p><small>Joel and Dave playing with openframeworks and arduino<\/small><\/p>\n<p>This weekend I went and took a 2-day workshop on <a href=\"http:\/\/openframeworks.cc\/\">openframeworks<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesystemis.com\/\">Zach Lieberman<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/muonics.net\/\">Theo Watson<\/a> &#8211; the class was mostly a bunch of cool designers and artists from London &#8211; orgnanized by <a href=\"http:\/\/tinker.it\/\">tinker.it<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paddingtonarts.org.uk\/\">Paddington Arts Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These are two great guys, trying to make Computer Vision and interactive art programming (and C++ more generally) easier to start with and use for everyday folks. openframeworks&#8217; speed and open-source-ness make it an invaluable tool, potentially far superior to its non-free competitors. Zach and Theo are wonderful artists, astute thinkers and generous teachers and coders, and I consider the workshop to be a huge success &#8211; I will definitely be using openframeworks in the future, and I hope to be teaching it, too. I may even steal their line from the beginning of the class: &#8220;you are all officially adopted; we take teaching very seriously, and promise to help you in your work from here on out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thanks everybody!
