Are you an artist, living in South Africa, looking for exposure, commissions or
\ncompetitions? Well, here are some I have found for you:
\nThe Sasol New
\nSignatures Competition<\/a> – fairly prestigious for young artists. Due today,
\nI am not entering.
\nThe Ekurhuleni Fine Art Award – Couldn’t find it online, due today, I am indeed
\nentering.
\nThe Sasol Wax
\nin Art Competition<\/a> – Due June 17th, I am entering.
\nThe Brett Kebble
\nArt Awards<\/a> – Due July 28th, undecided of my entrance.
\nAll of the above competitions culminate in shows and have cash prizes.
\nThe last one<\/a>
\neven has a new media<\/em> category, but it currently requires you to provide
\nyour own equipment, thus pretty much rendering "new media" to be video
\nart, unless you can lend a computer and projector, etc… I emailed them to see
\nif they’ll sponsor some equipment for geeks like us, and will post it here when
\nI get a response.
\nSpeaking of new media in Africa, my readers should be aware that I am the "Joburg
\neditor" for Rhizome.<\/a> All
\nthat really means is that I write articles for them every now and again. However,
\nthere hasn’t been much to write about, so I’ve only submitted two full articles
\nso far. Each has garnerd some international interest for the featured stories
\n\/ Africans. Are you doing something interesting with new media in SA? Tell
