Franci Cronje has been a photographer, filmmaker and video artist for more than twenty years. She has recently completed a Master’s Degree in Fine Art under Jo Ractliffe at Wits University, with a dissertation entitled "Problems presented by New Media in South African public art collections". This dissertation, which has been submitted in electronic html format, has been named the 2005 winner of the ‘Innovative ETD (open format) Award’ at the International NDLTD Conference. It is the first time that this award has been given to a student from an African institution. During May 2004, her solo exhibition titled "About Guilt" was hosted by the Premises Gallery in the Civic Theatre complex as partial fulfillment of her Masters degree in Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her video work has been shown in Ekanterinburg, Russia; Centrum voor Jonge Kunst, Gent; as well as at the "International Shorts" festival, California State University, Chicago, during 2004-5. She lives in a little rural town called Pretoria with her husband, three children and one dog.<\/p>\n
