action, where’s my script

Make that Jo Ractliffe solo exhibition a duo show with Terry Kurgan (see entry from 2 days ago)….

Been diving headlong into Flash MX and getting into actionscript lately. Although a bit daunting, it’s not very dissimilar from j-script, or any other scripting language that matter. I was expecting it to be closer to lingo (Director’s inherent object oriented programming language), but this is not the case. Granted, this is for a corporate-like job (web site for education), but it’s still fun to learn new technologies.

And, speaking of corporate and new technologies, Templar, over at blink, has purchased me a copy of Danny Rozin’s VideoMask Xtra for PC, so that I can throw something together for a presentation he is working on. I was hoping that VideoMask MX might be out soon, so that I can work in OS X, but the good news is that a PC version of stuttering may be in the works for the near future… Rock on.

radiohead and max

BBC Radio mention of Cycling74 (makers of Max/MSP/Jitter) – you’ll need the RealOne player for this (streaming). Not a bad overview of some people working in digital music, tho it ends on a sour note… regardless, recommended.

use full of it

New engine and directory, currently seeking link submissions: South Africa – Discover South Africa. Their art section is more than a bit lacking, but if it comes into use, early submission may be of some benefit :)

matrices suck

The new Matrix movie has to be one of the worst films I’ve seen in years – and
I see a lot of movies.

A cluster of Mac G5s at Virginia Tech highlighted as likely to be the 3rd fastest super-computer in the world (and the cheapest on the market!) – thanks to Angus Davidson for the link.

Per my question a few days ago, the new Jitter Beta for Windows (Cycling ’74) does indeed require an external VDIG when working with live video, just like the TTC-Pro Xtra for Director (Danny Rozin). WinVDIG is a free one that works alright, I hear.
My site is now the feeling-lucky first-listing on google
when searching for either "nathaniel

or "nat
