cover Kerry, you dolts

Fox, and the majority of the American media, continue to criticize John Kerry for “never saying anything about the issues”. And yet, he does – every single day; Fox just does not cover it.

Here are some key points from a recent speech by Kerry at New York University. The full speech is here.

It’s actually a damn fine speech.

Bloody hell. At this rate, the only coverage Kerry will get before the election is at the last Presidential debate. I hope he fares better than he has been….

evil, nathaniel

Yes, I feel cheap and you feel cheated.

Not only have I not blogged on great new South African art, and only reblogged for the past few days, but I was even at the JAG (Johannesburg Art Gallery) today, but forgot to take pics, and had no time to crit the new work that was up as of yesterday (was only there to chat about my own upcoming show).

Bad. Horrible. Unkind.

Aaaaaarg! Avast, me hearties!

Holy crap, I almost forgot – can you believe it’s September 19th again, already?

Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

And the pirate joke of the year is (thanks to Tony Mroczkowski – actually, I’ve been telling this one for years, since he told it to me, but I’ve never blogged it, so…. ):

So this pirate walks into a bar, and he’s totally the real deal. He’s got the peg leg, the eye patch, the outfit, the parrot – everything, right?
But the strange thing is, he has this huge steering wheel coming out of his crotch. From the size of it, I’d say it might have been from a Honda Civic, but one can never be too sure – you don’t want to stare at a pirate’s crotch, now, do you?

Anyhow, so, the bartender asks the pirate (let’s call him Vusi), he says, “Vusi, what the hell is that for? Why do you have a steering wheel coming out of your crotch? What’s it doing there?”

So Vusi says, “AAAAAAAARG! IT’S DRIVIN’ ME NUTS!”

note: this joke has been rated AAAAAAAAAR.

eat this

You can tell that nathaniel’s been busy when he hasn’t looked at his RSS aggregator in, like, weeks. Speaking of, anybody know of any good south african art RSS feeds? artthrob doesn’t have one (and their ‘weekly email update’ list, which I signed up for a few months ago, seems to be dead), and the great magazine art south africa, doesn’t even seem to have a web site.

Anyhow, it’s the mini-reblog issue of nathaniel and the non-aggressive; after all, it’s Sunday.

First, cuz all the kids are doing it:

You are (read: ‘nathaniel is’ – and I really did answer honestly for all of these questions) 55% geek
You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you’ll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you’re a technical geek, you’ll be able to afford it, too. If you’re not a technical geek, you’re geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don’t date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You’ll constantly try to out-geek the other.

everything you need to know from Bush’s RNC speech
The people over at LOOP TV & Film have knocked his 1 hour speech down to 3 minutes of essentials. One quote is, “To create jobs… we will make our country dependent… on foreign sources of energy!”

And finally, there’s Jonah Brucker-Cohen’s report from ISEA 2004. (not a rhizome member? go here)
