twiin

David Linhart & Jon "the
bassist"
Siegel, of uplifters
fame, have a new side project called Twiin. They just sent me a demo,
and I can’t stop listening to it. Check out some samples of the kinds of music
they create here.
Twiin tunes are not yet online, but I think it sounds most like the tracks
on David’s Lines into Circles CD (available – acoustic singer/songwriter
a la Ben Harper meets Sade and Harry Connick Jr., only to be casually interrupted
by Ani DiFranco), but add an amazing acoustic bass sound, thanks to Jon. And if
you like unique-sounding reggae, you’ll love the
uplifters
– the site has an amazing entourage of "stuff."
I have a lot of freelance work to catch up on. Blog you later.

SPATT

I doubt anyone out there in webland remembers Stinky Pete And The Titanics,
the first ska-punk band to the rock out the rock palace on the Shaolin (see terrible
interview, circa 1997- 3 years into our 4 year life span – here),
but I do. (Is this a good thing or a bad thing, you ask? See
interview
and decide for yourself… We were a love-able bunch, I think.)
In fact, I heard from the bass player for the first time in years recently. It
was one of those unexpected, but very pleasant surprises. Hey Brett!
It’s Good Friday today, and as any good NYC Jew, I rented a movie. Hooray for
Harry Potter!
Primary news is looking glum. My two least favorite candidates for the Democratic
bill are in the lead (Lieberman
and Kerry) and even they
are midgets by comparison to Bush in popularity polls. ICK! My pick, Howard
Dean,
hasn’t even garnered 10% of the Dem popular vote, nor has my 2nd choice,
Edwards…

LOI

Wow! My old buddy Ross Siegel (from both Cornell
and the elite, but not elitist, ITP)
just sent me two copies of the latest issue of his ‘zine (also a label), Law
of Inertia.
I can’t put it down! Really well-written articles, and a superb
blend of childish fun, with mature reflections. Check out the
site
frequently, as an overhaul is on the way (Ross let me peak into the preview,
and it is H-O-T).
