As a former (and therefore always – it’s where I was born) Staten Islander, this story really scares and moves me. I can’t believe it’s evaded me for 10 days, and my heart goes out to all of the families the tragedy touched.
DOT Announced Ferry Safety Improvements, linked from the SI Ferry site, which states, "The New York City Department of Transportation extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims involved in the tragic Staten Island Ferry accident on October 15, 2003"
And here come the lawsuits…
