It’s time. phenomenomadic,
a performance piece that I’ve been working on with Jeanette
Ginslov
opens as part of the FNB
Dance Umbrella
tomorrow, at the Wits
Main Stage. Here is the
original conceptual statement (written by the two of us); no photos are available
yet. Admittedly, the statement
is a bit misleading – originally, the piece was going to be a careful exploration
into isolated identities (or the lack thereof) in South African dance languages.
As Jeanette
moved along with her directing, it turned into more of a comedy about specific
South African choreographers, and how they work. If you are familiar with this
"scene," you’ll definitely enjoy it. Tomorrow and the next day, 7 PM.
