I'm glad you both found it interesting. I think they are lots of good reasons to blog beyond simply the blog itself. It is a stretch, though... especially when you commit yourself to generating higher quality content.

Sheree, if you come to any new insights about the balance or how your blog is helping you, we'd all like to hear it!

This is such an interesting topic. I am reading your suggestions with great interest. I do have an art blog. I love writing it. Also, I have done YouTube videos. I was just telling someone today, I have had to step back from the videos for a while because I saw how that medium was having an effect on my thought processes, creativity, and production. I find my blog to be easier to handle. I do not use it as a marketing tool, but more of an art journal. It has become a great record of my thoughts over the past year. However, I am still grappling with my motivation and the direction of my posts. Thanks for this blog entry. It is food for thought.

great post, brady - thanks for putting it up here. I couldn't agree more about this. although i'm too hektik with my phd at the mo, blogging every day in south africa when I was there helped me on so many levels. it helped me clarify what i was doing, understand the local art scene more, start discussions around both, to be engaged and be seen as engaged locally, and also just to feel a part of something larger than myself - which is why i'm an artist to begin with. i hope to get back to blogging after the dissertation is done, even if not every day... i also just wish more artists wrote about their practice and process and involvement with other artists more generally -- most of us just complain about there not being enough writing, or not liking the writing or bias, rather than doing it ourselves (see my comments of old, and art heat's comments recently - i feel your pain, guys, and despite our occasional difference, i think you are doing great work and appreciate it! for this reason, i also give B Grey a bit of a pass, for now....)
