I don’t usually reblog reblog’s blog (anymore), but I couldn’t resist this one: Eyebeam reBlog: Women scientists’ unsung stories in comic-book form, which begins “Rosalind Franklin’s story is one of…”

As some of you may know, double standard (a large light box, and part of serial faces), is a portrait of the aforementioned scientist; it was sold to Sasol about 6 weeks ago, and is currently being displayed in the front of their head offices, Johannesburg.

homeland insecurity advisory system

Homeland Insecurity Advisory System, by Jonah Brucker-Cohen, Randall Packer and a made up / alias Jack Sternhaur III (you’ve got to read his bio!) has now been launched. Looks like the rumored O’Reilly magazine, Make is finally going to come out. Yay, physical computing projects!

In other news, my bud kaki is over at the Banff New Media Summer Arts Festival for the wearables workshop. Is there a wearables community in SA? I’d be keen to see what they’re up to, and how we could connect with the growing digital arts and digital video (and slowly building p-comp) communities.

Having trouble sleeping so I thought this’d be a good time to continue on my quest to take back my blog. Below are two links to lists of blogs in and around southern africa I found today, and then the two I found most interesting and quirky (separately, and in that order).

Is it just me, or, all of a sudden, are a lot of joburg artists starting up blogger accounts? I hope it’s not just me (altho I just moved to WordPress)…. Lemme know if you are in SA and have a blog - I’m all about aggregating those RSSes!
