dean and dr king

From Dean for America (speech made by Howard Dean), August 28th, 2003 :
"Forty years ago today, a quarter of a million Americans peacefully protested the nation’s unjust segregationist policies. Those patriots of all races and from all walks of life joined together on the Washington Mall to change their country and fight for basic civil rights and equal rights for all Americans. They listened as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., outlined his vision for an America where people were judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin."

"Today, Dr. King’s dream is being attacked by an administration that seeks to unravel the decades of improvements made on civil rights and gaining equal rights for all Americans. Our civil liberties are under assault, our moral role in the world has been compromised, and we’ve seen progress on issues like the civil rights and the environment reversed by an administration that seeks to divide us once again by race, gender, sexual orientation, and income. Just as those 1963 marchers changed the course of the country, we must today take another stand to set right the course of American society. We can take our country back, and, as Dr. King said, we must let freedom ring."

If this is what the US government can do with the Patriot Act, just imagine what they will be able to do with the Victory Act: Free Speech News - SHERMAN AUSTIN SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR IN FEDERAL PRISON. Note to any Big Brotherly US officials on my site: I just want my country back.

The answer to all your - actually, my - infrared USB camera problems: Logitech VC WebCam Mods. Also check out the images and explanations throughout the AstroCam Website…. Oops!!! Both those links seem to be dead, and this is a popular link. Here’s a new resource on turning a webcam / web camera USB into an IR / infrared / infra-red video camera! Special thanks to Tony Mroczkowski for his help!

Thanks to andy, who informed me the next links were dead, too. here’s two more to browse through - this and this.Dammit, dead: And better still, Debbie Rogers says to go here!

I used google answers today, then started to answer my own question - not quite there, though. There was someone working on helping me, but I think I may have them scared off…. Anyway, here’s the interaction so far - Google Answers: infared USB camera for Mac. Feel free to post any suggestions there, or email me directly, if you have input. It’s kinda fun to use GA. I have a feeling, though, that if I don’t get an answer in the next day, I won’t get one at all. help an artist in Africa!

Dust and Deception.

Need a subscription for this, but here’s the gist:
Last week a quietly scathing report by the inspector general of the Environmental Protection Agency confirmed what some have long suspected: in the aftermath of the World Trade Center’s collapse, the agency systematically misled New Yorkers about the risks the resulting air pollution posed to their health. And it did so under pressure from the White House….

…the most shocking revelation from the new report is that under White House direction, the E.P.A. suppressed warnings about indoor pollution. Scattered evidence suggests that as a result, hundreds of cleaning workers and thousands of residents may be suffering chronic health problems.

defining Dean

If you haven’t noticed. I really like Howard Dean - and believe he has a real chance at the US presidency (I also like Kucinich and Moseley Braun, but don’t think they can swing the votes). Read this: Defining Dean
And there’s this little one, for those who think he can’t garner enough support: Thousands turn out for Howard Dean rally
