is Nader good for us this time?

Nader
says he may be running for prez again.
Even as a huge supporter, and someone
who recognizes the truth (that he did not steal the election from Gore), I’m able
to see this as the big mistake that it is… Or is he, perhaps, vying for the
VP bid on someone else’s candidacy?
Perhaps we’d like to see Nader and…
DEAN has some huge
news
today, surprising the world with his fundraising ability.
My student loans go out of deferment soon and this is scary.
Nicole and I did not get that flat we wanted, but are still hoping to find something
bigger.
I like my wife.

24.7 pre-mini

To my regular readers (do
I have any of those?)
apologies for not posting that frequently as of late.
Teaching and freelance have been hitting me hard, but more importantly, I’ve been
taking part in the live residency at the JAG (see link in my last post), so I’ve
been spending a lot of time offline. Additionally, am pushing to get some interesting
poetry and video happening for the new FATC
piece, which is moving along slowly, but beautifully, if I do hope so
myself.
Here’s
a brief history of Dean - good and bad. I still like him.
It’s now time to pack up and head over to (be) an exhibit.

24.7 begins!

24.7 artist residency
program
got to a fab start, with the move-in of the first group of artists
(new media), today at the JAG! Here’s a
copy
of the article I posted to Rhizome
(free on Fridays; otherwise subscription needed) this morning, about the launch
this past Saturday. I’m really glad to be a part of this project, and am already
collaborating with one audio artist, and one flash designer on two separate projects.
Go City+Suburban! Email Christian
if you want to be involved.

To Sir, With Love (part of serial
faces;
pix available) has officially been chosen as part of the WAM
festival’s
Wax
in Art Exhibition.
Can’t wait to see the other work!
Already finished reading the new Harry Potter, and am eagerly awaiting the arrival
of Book 6.
Nicole and I put a bid on a beautiful 2-bedroom flat up on Killarney Ridge last
night. Fingers crossed…
Started animating and writing for the new piece with the FATC
- opening night is coming fast (since this piece is a collaborative project, the
performance’s page in the gallery, accompanied by statement and pix, will be posted
after it’s launch).
Work, work, work.

24.7 residency
launches today! Check it out at the Joburg
Art Gallery,
if you are around. If not, watch
this space
for updates.
New Harry Potter released today - about to go and buy it (I’m a geek).
SUPER busy workload, so expect short blogs over the next couple of weeks.
My better half is back from her B&B getaway of trying to write; I can’t imagine
how difficult it must be to write a dissertation, though I’m hoping to find out
one day (how sick is that?).
Time for a healthy breakfast.

ins and outs

To Sir, With Love was entered into the Sasol
Wax in Art Competition
yesterday - there was some really nice work already
at the gallery, so the final exhibition should be H-O-T. Here’s to hoping my piece
is a part of it… For images/details (new!), as well as new pics of Relativity
and A Brief History, click on their thumbnail images on the serial
faces
gallery page.
I donated $5 to the Dean
campaign this morning. It marks the first time I’ve ever given money to a political
candidate.
FANTASTIC meeting with FATC’s
PJ Sabbagha yesterday afternoon - There is no Room in this Bed is really
coming along, and I’m very excited to be working with him and his amazing cast
- opens late July!
This
is where Dems should hit Bush.
Remember when I said most Dems would have to eat their words before attacking
Bush on his actions in Iraq? There are a few who can do it without embarrassment;
Dean
is one of them.

I’m off to make art happen with PJ, then get some work done for my students and
freelance peops.

It was recently brought to my attention that hektor.net
(see description here), an
old net.art site (2000) of mine has an inherent bug in Windows on IE 5.5 and higher.
This is to the fault of Miscrosoft and their active-X upgrade non-compliance with
QuickTime, but the problem has been remedied. If you’re yet to check out hektor.net,
do as such (recommended for high
bandwidth; need QuickTime,
flash
and be sure to turn up your volume! Lemme know if you catch a bug, but I doubt
it :).
I’s hungry.

Did you know about Spike Lee’s short film, We
Wuz Robbed?

Bowling for
Columbine
has opened in SA, and I’m hoping to see it soon.
Why aren’t the Dem primary candidates attacking Bush for not finding WMDs? Cuz
they’d have to eat their words, first.

Bloomberg
vs. Bill
for the mayor of NYC? I think Clinton could actually stand a chance
(thank goodness)…
